A lockdown on Dartmoor
What a year so far. Just before lockdown in March I packed my bags in London and headed down to my parents in Devon. What I thought was just going to be a few weeks, ended up being nearly half a year.
Now I’m back in London and life is somewhat returning to normal, I thought I’d do a little roundup on the past six months. When asked I find it very hard to put into words how I’ve found it. It’s been a mixture of some of the lowest times in my life but also some of the very very best. So rather than trying to put into words this whirlwind of a time, here are just a jumble of good memories - more for myself to remember than anything else.
The Garden - I spent most of the first two months of ‘full lockdown’ in my parents garden, lots of digging, brick laying and planting. So grateful for the warm Spring weather and kept me busy while work went quiet.
A few months later, we’re still enjoying an abundance of home grown vegetables and fruit,,,
Cycling - having not spent much time on a bike in the past 15 years, I became a bit of a lockdown cliché and became fairly cycling obsessed. A good excuse to finally buy my dream bike from Temple though! t’s quickly become one of the favourite things I own and was a saviour for my mental health over the past few months. Took a while to get used to the Devon hills though…
Exploring Dartmoor - loved having the time to visit all my favourite spots, along with discovering so much more that Dartmoor and Devon has to offer. Lots of wild swimming, long walks, cycling, picnics and beaches,
Endless supplies of flowers from the garden…
Couldn’t not mention the arrival of Stanley…
And just a few more…
